This year, we will be using Fundations to help teach phonics, phonemic awareness, and decoding skills. It is a multi-sensory approach to learning and repetition is a key part to its success. We will work with letter cards, magnet boards, sand trays, whiteboards, and the Smartboard to model, practice, and improve upon our knowledge of letters and how to manipulate them to make words.
The Fundations alphabet chart is below. This is important because we will practice our letters daily using cards with these images. We will practice saying the letter name - keyword (picture) - and the sound for every card (ex: b - bat - /b/). Have your child teach you the letter names, keywords, and sounds!
